  2. Remembered this one called “Buddies” I did a while ago for Keith Haring’s birthday. He would have turned 55 today. The dude influenced me in so many ways. He made art for himself, and he made it for everyone. “Whatever you want to do, the only secret is to believe in it and satisfy yourself. Don’t do it for anyone else.”

  13. I have been working on some new things to put up in Sip Coffee House, which will be hung tomorrow and up through the end of April. This one is gouache painted on an old table I found in my alley. It’s still got some work, but it should be ready for tomorrow and hung up in the cafe.

  14. Working on some new stuff – I have to be able to fill a cafe by Sunday! Starting on Monday you can come to Sip Coffee House at Grand & Ogden (in Chicago) and see what artwork I was able to put together in time to hang! I’ve got this gouache painting on wood to start with, but hopefully I’ll have plenty more.

  15. Here is another idea for ‘Take Big Chances’ based on Dave Coleman‘s video on his process for creating photo compositions with hand-lettering layered on top (watch it on his tumblr HERE). I’m still working out ideas and details for what I want to do with TakeBigChances.com, but Dave’s video on his process was a good motivator to try something different. I really dig Dave’s design and lettering work, and if you haven’t seen any go check it out at dvclmn.tumblr.com. The photo I used was taken on a train that was taking me back to Chicago from Tucson, Arizona, where I had just completed a 2,600 mile bike tour (from Chicago, Illinois to Tucson, Arizona). More ideas and info on T.B.C. are sure to come.
